I can't ever remember a winter like this. The swamp maples are almost a month ahead of schedule. This is fairly chaotic so I'm interested to see if it holds together for the folks here.

It definitely holds for me. I think the colors set against the stark background are great.

I like the colors and the textures, don't find a focal point. In sliding my browser window around I feel like cropping from the left almost to the colored leaves seems to work better.

Wow, maples blooming in Jan?, thats early even for La. I like this David, esp. your use of the reflection.

Definitely holds together, David, to my eye. The trees on the far right seem to burst up and down and then the eye follows the branches across the frame. The subtle separation you achieved with the background forest works well. And then the wonderful light on the maple blooms (or leaves) graces this beautifully. The large image really reveals the beauty of this. Your eye for composition in this chaotic forest is a real gift. Exquisite.

The light on the tree trunks really helps tame the chaos, IMO. I like their vertical attitude in contrast to the (mostly) horizontal orientation of the reflection. A small crop from the left, as Mark suggested, would probably make it a stronger image, but it holds together well as is

Yes, It's busy, but there is a nice delicacy to both the elements and the light. It holds together pretty well.

I like the color balance and the symmetry is great. Ordinarily id defend thirds, but for whatever reason i find a 1/6 crop from the top strengthens this for me. Real nice!

This is very nice, David. The large version of this works really well. I like how you took what would be a chaotic scene and made it so interesting. You have a great eye for these scenes. The colors are wonderful and you have a great reflection too. I enjoy the feel of this!

The color palette is simply delightful -- elegant and fully of natural beauty. I love how the background detail comes through. This is one photograph that I could see myself getting lost in for a very long time.

The small version seemed a little busy, but the larger version really rocks. Size does matter. Beautiful color and detail. The only that I might offer is that I wonder how darkening the reflection a little would affect it? I think good, but would only know after trying it.

Chaos is good! The color pallette and textures are awesome. I think a tiny crop from the top might work. :toast: :toast:
