Saguaro Silhouette

by Tonia Graves

Gallery: LandscapePosted January 28, 201298 views6 comments
Nikon D5100 w/ 20-35 lens
ISO 1250, F6.3, 6 sec. exposure
RAW file processed in PSE10
Vertical image cropped to eliminate destracting elements
Location: Tucson, AZ - Saguaro Nat. Park West

It was near dark when I took this so I ended up using a higher ISO than I would have liked. That said I am pleased with the results. Comments & critiques welcome!

Wonderful image, Tonia. Very evocative of the SW. Just love the colors in the sky--what a gradation of color. The saguaro really sets the place and the colors then support that. Amazing thins happen after sunset for those staying the extra minures.

Great collection of colors in the sky and the silhouettes place this in Arizona. Very nicely seen.

Nice shot, I really like the shapes and colors here and the prickly pear on the left adds a lot of interest. I'm not crazy about the fence but it's not a deal breaker.

Thank you everyone for your comments! Just to clarify, there is no fence in the background, simple more saguaros & ocotillos.

Love the colors and the exotic SW atmosphere provided by the cacti. The portrait comp works well for me. Very nice image.
