Winter Rain #2

I spent some more time experimenting with the light settings on this rose. I feel this image is better at representing the soft light I wanted playing that would be both subtle yet also able to reveal the petal textures and color shades. The post is an image stack of 9, using a Stack Shot rail by cognisys, a 1/8" honeycomb filter on my canon speedlite at 1/64 power and processing the stack using Helicon Focus.

Larger image available, thanks for stopping and your comments

canon 7D
canon 100mm f2.8L IS USM Live view manual focus
F/3.5 -0.33 .30 ISO 100
tripod, rail, speedlite, helicon focus, CS5, LR3, Niks suite

Really good light giving a nice glow on the rose. Beautiful presentation overall. I think this is a much better rendition than WR #1.

I think this is just superb, Craig ! Like Bill, I find it so much stronger than the previous post - a fine stack, with the sombre colours beautifully blended and the edges shading nicely into the darkness. A first rate ` mood ' image IMO.

I too prefer this version with softer lighting to the previous post. This one really brings out the subtle details in the flower and is much easier to explore at length.
