Kansas Serenity

Gallery: Weekly ChallengePosted January 28, 201293 views4 comments
Taken behind my home featuring one of 3 small ponds. The lack of wind help create a good reflection and sense of calm.

Nikon D700 28 mm f/2.8 Nikkor manual [meta data says 35 mm but I forgot to change lens data when shooting manual lens]

Large version submitted, too.

f/11, 1/15s, tripod, ISO not recorded.

Criticisms sought and welcomed.

Nice Kansas image. I am not sure if the small tree in the center adds or distracts from the image. Nice colors. Thanks for sharing.

A pretty scene with bold color. Really a beautiful sky. My main suggestion would be to burn down the bright spot on the horizon as it tends to distract from the rest of the composition. I know reflections are darker than the areas they reflect, but difference in brightness between that spot on the horizon and its reflection seems out of balance to me.

The details in the reflections are really nice, here. The colors in the sky seem to be a little off - especially the blues. The dark shadows work well against the bright sky and water. What a beautiful sky!

Beautiful sky and reflection. I agree with Varina that the blues in the sky especially at the top seem too saturated.
