Sandhill Flyby

While at the most northern Crane pond at the Bosque, I saw these Cranes headed our way from a pond further south. I hoped to get a sharp image with a bg that would remind me of the location. This is about the best I could do. I like the down wing poses and the morning light was nice.

Comments and critiques are always appreciated.

I like the warm lighting and the red hues in the background and the birds. Nice detail, also, the larger version looks really good.
Great capture!

Like this a lot Harry. Amazing synch they have and along with the tight formation sort of remind me of a precision flying team like the Navy's Blue Angels. Nice comp with a good BG. Would certainly remind me of Bosque. A nice BIF image and a super job with a big, heavy lens in grabbing this. Obviously, you're pretty proficient with this setup on your tripod.

Lovely shot. Just right in relation to the backdrop too.

nice comp, Skip. love that bosque bg and the matching poses. I'd prefer that the one's bill weren't touching the other's tail, but a minor thing.

Nice formation with the birds well placed against the background. I like the wing positions, the colors and the sense of place.

Before reading your comment, just looking at the image, i was doubtful about the bg, i mean i'd like it to be all red because i found the sky is attracting my eyes too much, but understanding it is a choice i must accept it. Surely the large image must be seen to appreciate the details. I like very much the shadow of the second bird's right wing projected on the first crane's neck.

Cheers, Luca
