Canyon Creek

Long time, no post...I know, I know, but I just haven't shot anything new. Last year at this time, I was able to sneak out to Colorado for the fun Rocky Mtn Region's Shindig and shoot a bunch of ice abstracts at Dream Lake. This year, well, I just haven't been able to get away from the volleyball gym where I coach pretty much everyday.

Here's one I liked from my last landscape shoot....back in early November on my Zion trip. There's a bit of the hand of man in here, as you can pick out the crude log ladder that leads up to the level above the waterfall. Hope this stays in the Landscape forum

Lots of great stuff recently here on the Landscape Gallery!

Canon 5Dm2, Nikon 14-24.

Real pretty little waterfall, especially with the maple going off in the background. Sweet.

Excellent work! I like the composition and the warm light on the distant wall is perfect. Looks like a wonderful location.

The composition works well for leading one's eye right into the falls and that sweet light.
It was a great pleasure hangin' out with you here, Jimmy!

Very nice shot Jimmy! I really like the warm and cool tones here. At first I thought the yellow leaves were blown out bits of the canyon wall, but then I realized it was a splash of beautiful fall color. No nits from me!

This is real nice Jimmy. The colors and light look great and this is a very interesting view. I love the waterfall in the background and those fall color leaves up top.

Nice composition. The larger version lets me get closer to the colorful jewel in the center.

Nice work, Jimmy. I wouldn't have seen this as a horizontal, myself, so it's interesting to see your treatment of it. Nice to hang out with you that day, too!

Hope you can get out soon.

I do agree that the photo has an amazing light, colors and DOF, but i don't agree as a horizontal comp. I believe the vertical comp. will make it stronger

Cool--i love the confined feel and untraditional comp! A very minor nit: the nice bush/tree gets a bit lost up top because it is bright and the bg walls are bright...maybe nothing you could do about that...but i might try darkening the orange selectively a bit to see if that helps the yellow stand out--that tree should be a real focal point.

Sweet, Jimmy. Really like the way the exaggerated foreground frame the glowlight.

Very nice detail throughout, this is a real beauty, Jimmy! I could see opening those shadows on the RH wall just slightly, but very nice as presented to :toast:

Beautiful light and color, Jimmy. Really like the stair-steps of the creek, centered as you have amongst the textured rock walls. Nicely done.

This is one of those images where you are forced to look at the back of the image. Beautiful color and leading lines. Love that little waterfall. I won't tell anybody if you clone out the ladder. Nice jog overall Jimmy.

Jimmy, the comp is great like the many others from here I've seen and the ladder well hidden in the flow (better than others I've seen from here). The background looks more like a bright red cast than reflected light though, and that hides the tree which would make a stronger focal point IMO. I might reprocess the background with more tonal range and see if you can't bring it back towards the more natural range of things while still keeping some brightness in spots that would help lead the eye. Everything else looks very nice.
