Coming Light

Sunrise looking down the North Fork of Buffalo Creek drainage, Big Horn Mountains, Wyoming. I like the simplicity of the composition but am worried it's "too simple" and has no interest. I lightened the fg a bit in ps in an attempt to balance the light across the image and cropped a little off the left. Suggestions are most welcome. thanks for looking

The color looks great, the curves in the hills draw my eye through pretty well too.

I wonder if the large trees on the right have to much visual mass? They hold me up before I wander off to enjoy the rest of the scene. Maybe if they were darker/more of a silhouette? It's a pretty image, just the same.

Nancy Lea,

I think this is beautiful and certainly not too simple; there is great interest here, IMHO. The stand of trees offer a good focal point to start with. But what I really like are the lines/curves leading the eye from the foreground around the trees and further in to the landscape, leading to the beautiful sky. The sparse trees and zig-zagging on the left I think balance nicely with the weight of the main group of trees. I don't know what's causing it so not sure what to suggest for a fix, but at least for me keeps this from being an image I would want to print. Fix that halo and this will be a winner.

Lon

Technically, I think you need to address the haloing around those trees.

Nice simple scene. The halo around the tree and horizon seem a bit obvious. These can usually be painted away through a mask that selects lighter tones.

Too simple? No such thing IMO. This is quite nice. Good job on lightening the FG too. I like the curves and the mood in this - nice composition.

Haloes like this are usually the S&H tool...if that's what it is here, don't use that tool, its very unforgiving
A beautiful comp though, love the balance and mood here. The trees seemed tilted left, but maybe that's the wind....i doubt it though cause the clouds are a bit skewed too. Really pretty, fix it up and it will be sweet!
