Have enjoyed shooting some carnations recently. I've never before appreciated how lovely the stems are - makes me wonder about all those buttonholes !!

Canon 400D, 100mm Macro lens,1 sec @ f11,1ev, natural light indoors, Nik suite with touch of vignette blur.

Ian, this is one of the best carnation shots I've seen. I have extreme problems shooting these things. :toast:

Beautiful colours, comp, and I love the procession - adds a bit of "mystery" that is very effective.
Gorgeous!

Beautiful, Ian! At first I thought I would like more clear focus throughout the image with the solid BG, but I realized there is also a lot of appeal in the soft treatment you have given this. Great comp and fine processing.

The pastel orange and red in the petals is really especially appealing and it contrasts nicely against the green stems. I find the softness near the llc slightly distracting, because it seems to happen too fast, likely do to the vignette blur.

Great job on this one Ian. Love the pastel colours. All too often carnations end up have some pretty harsh coloring IMHO. Like the comp and vignette blur treatment.

Ian:
Carnations are tough in my experience but you have make them looks so easy and pretty. The soft vignette adds a lot to the overall mood. One of the best carnation image I have seen. :toast:

Hi Ian :wavey: A marvelous capture of Carnations, the best i've seen  love your choice of DOF.[ and The soft edges] The pastel colors, and fascinating stems, are an added bonus

Ian: I was underwhelmed by the thumbnail and very pleasantly surprised by the full size shot. Lovely color management. The vignetting makes this look like a lens baby shot. I like it. >=))>

Beautiful light and a very pleasant softness on this picture- I'm not sure about vignette blurring effect, it can be an excellent shot without that effect as well- Nicely done, Fabio
