In Silent Awe

This was taken on the top of the world, well, from the top of Sentinel Dome last October. I always marvel at the beauty that is our world, in all its complexity as well as in its simplicity. I in some ways feel a little jealous of this little Jeffrey Pine in that it gets to bask in this every day.

Anyway, I did my best to include other elements like the Moon and Venus (it is just to the right of the tree) to add interest in this simple silhouette. No special techniques for extending dynamic range or depth of focus. Simple is good.

Hope you all enjoy it.

I agree Youssef, simple is good. I like the placement of the tree and Moon and the colours are nice. I wouldn't have noticed Venus if you hadn't mentioned it.

Gary.

I agree simple and beautiful. I think the relatively smaller moon maintains its shape contrasts nicely with the tree, TFS

Real pretty, Youssef. And as always, the moon. You should change the name of your business to Moon Light Photography.

Beautiful colors! I'm thinking it might be kind of cool if the moon was enlarged a bit to make it more prominent--just a thought.

I really enjoy the gradation of color in the sky. The land and Jeffrey Pine juxtapose against the sky beautifully.

Nice twilight scene Youssef. I like the simple composition which helps you focus on the important aspects of the image: color & silhouettes.

Wonderful silhouette scene here, Youssef. The angle of view with the small slice of the moon works perfectly. I do think I see Venus as you've mentioned, but the larger version might have been easier to see it all better....

Beautifully composed Youssef and a striking image. I really like the color gradients, bot top to bottom on the sky, as well as left to right on the orange/yellow. Simple is always good!

Simply done. There is no more here than needs to be here, and everything here that does need to be here (except possibly Venus, which I had to blow up 300 percent to find).

I love the lone tree composition. Adding the moon tops it off. Really nice colors.

The strong colors really make this scene. Love the tree and how it relates to both the landscape and the heavens.

Youssef,

Simple is good, indeed. Did you catch the crescent moon tonight? It looked awesome from here in Livermore more although I didn't photograph.

I love the simplicity here and the composition is just solid. Beautiful image Youssef.

Simply gorgeous, Youssef. Love the simplicity of the composition, uncluttered with the nice silhouette of the tree, the beautiful gradation in color in the sky, and the jewel of the moon. Fantastic.
