This Northern Pintail drake had quite a few hens in close proximity floating around the pond. He offered his "Agency" look as he floated by.

Image taken from an SUV on the River 'S' Auto Route of Ridgefield NWR, WA.

Chuck, I like the comp a lot. The larger verison shows nice detail. Looks like tough lighting. I wish for a bit better illumination on the bird.

Ron-the light was pretty bad but I considered myself lucky because it was forecast to snow-and the precip held off. I could have upped the flash a bit but I was concerned I'd go too far. I wish I had a longer stay to go back under better conditions, but you take what you can....

Sharpness and detail look good, as does exposure. Composition works well for me. I nice image though I do wish you'd had a bit more light - which is something I'm wishing for myself around here lately...

Nice look at that long tail and I like the pose and the head turn but the lighting definitely wasn't helping you much here but like you said you take what you can get sometimes. I'm curious what you mean by his "Agency look".

I like this very much, and agree with all the positive comments Charles.
I think you did a fine job with the light you had..I bet in print viewed large there's a world of difference.
Well done! :wavey:

Lovely richness of the bird and head turn, but I think overall lightening of the image is needed.
