Another snow leopard image from the zoo. I have watched this snowy mature since he arrived at the zoo. Later this year he will have a mate as part of the breeding program for this endangered species.

Canon EF S55-250 @ 79mm

Excellent details John, love the pink nose/pink tip of the tongue combo..it works well in the subdued light.
The snow and dead stems give it a natural look, even though it's a zoo shot. You might consider selecting the man made rock BG and using a bit of lens blur to soften it out, giving it that almost in-the-wild look..
Great job! :wavey:

Much better now John. Better pose and better BG. Excellent detail too.

I do really like this one more than your previous, as Howard already stated the green stems give it a more "natural" look.

Nice subject and good details.
I must say that I am not really convinced about posting images of these subjects from a zoo. In a "Wildlife" gallery. And without any indication in the title of the photo.
John I find that a zoo is in contrast with what I (and I hope many others here) consider Wildlife.

Saving the best for last he John, very clever! Very strong portrait with perfect exposure, good details, dynamic angle and a captivating look on the cat's face. My only small nit is the wall in the BG as it still gives away this was shot in a ZOO (and I therefore echo Howard's suggestion to make it less evident), but all in all this is a very good photo :toast: .

Daniel & Loana, you said:

You are entitled to you own opinion, but it is clear that NPN allows photos of captive animals to be posted, and the official line reads:
Images of captive animals, or staged, set-up, and studio shots must be stated as such.

I think John has been very open about where this series of images was shot.

Very nice shot of this magnificent animal, John! I like he look on its face and the tongue peeping out. How cool it would be to see cubs if the breeding program is going to work. Zoos are their to keep this species alive. :toast:
