A blend of three NEF images for DR and detail. Much appreciation is given to Mark Metternich for aid in working on the learning of DR and detail blending processes. So much to learn. Not much sky action on this day, but the water was thrashing and beautiful.

Comments to aid me in improving my blending skills would be much appreciated. Randall

I like the composition of this image a lot. I also like the movement of the water. Fine image.

Terrific detail in the rock and the water.
Very good capture and processing.
I'm liking it a lot.

The action in the water and it's turquoise color in the surf is really nice. The textures in the rocks are also pretty amazing. I do feel that the top of the ridge in the upper right may be too bright, but I wasn't there so that may or may not be the actual brightness...only the photog knows for sure

I like it Randall. Processing looks good. I especially like the water action here. My thought might be a crop for less rocks and more water. Talk w you soon.

Randall,

Fabulous job with the blending. I can't see any flaws at all. Great color in the water and you did well to show detail throughout, even in some of the darker areas. Nothing you can do about the sky and conditions, which is why you didn't include any more sky than you had to for a nice comp. Well done all the way around.

Thanks everyone for your comments. The help I have been receiving from Mark Metternich in learning exposure, focus and movement detail blending (among other things) has been invaluable. These techniques and the skills they require are clearly an integral part of many of the well-crafted images on NPN. Beginning to develop these skills has opened up new vistas for me in terms of what is possible in the way of image conceptualization and actualization.

Blend looks fine to me. There is a nice balance of light across the frame. Really like the water and rock textures. Would maybe try and make the sky a little more textured to match.
