Cape White-eye

A relatively common bird here in the Western Cape, the Cape White-eye. I had to compensate on DoF and shutter speed to keep the ISO as low as possible. In hind sight I should rather have increased the DoF and reduced shutter speed.

1/1000
F/4.0
ISO 400
Canon 1D MkIV
Canon 500mm
Distance - 6.5m

Excellent pose and eye contact. Agree with you on the DOF, at least as far as the feet and perch. .Really nice feather detail!

Great detail on the bird and I lik the diagonal perch and bg. The perch looks funny to me . Is it covered with ice or did you use NR?

Interesting subject, excellent detail and nice even light on the bird. I'm fine with your DOF in a shot like this.

Hi Cheryl. The perch is what was left of a protea bush after a veld fire. The fire created the effect on the branch.
