Snowy

It's been forever since I've posted, but with all of the hoopla around snowy owls in Washington, I'm back. First thanks to Max Wough for providing me a few details about Damon Point.
My partner and I were out on the point before dawn and left after dark both days we were there. I was a little bit weary of being around so many other photographers chasing the same birds, but for the most part, everyone was respectful of each other and more importantly, respectful of the owls(a couple of minor exceptions).
This was taken before first light and I kind of like the high key look here, even though there is no catchlight, etc. I have a 1000+ images to go through with every lighting situation, perch, backround, etc that I can think of. It was an amazing experience.

I had breakfast with Charlie Van Tessel three mornings in a row at the hotel and didn't even make the NPN connection. I also failed to meet Dennis Plank and another member or two that were there.

OH Well. :toast:

Canon 7d(just out of the box), 100-400mm IS, 5.6 @ 1/100 of a second, ISO 320, slight crop
This was a quick PS job, hope it's ok

Hola from Peru, Dan. I'm glad to hear it went well. Based on how much shooting you did it must've stayed dry for you guys. Looking forward to seeing what else you came up with.

Nice one, Dan. I didn't quite make it before dawn. Those must have been long days-it was cold out there. Nice detail and I like tyhe way the lines of the perch work with the lines of the owl.

I like the high key treatment for this image as well Dan. You exposed the bird well and the comp works beautifully. Nicely captured. :toast:

I like the cool early morning, cold day feel to this Dan. Glad to hear the photographers were watching out for the owls, for the most part.

Excellent job with the exposure, Dan. You did a great job getting separation from that white background. Really nice detail in the larger post. Very nice perch and pose. Great job.
