Fly on flower bud

I believe this is a type of syrphid fly on the bud of a Coreopsis flower. This was an old image that I re-edited as I improved my editing skills.

Canon Rebel T1i. 90mm macro lens. F/2.8 for 1/250 sec. ISO 1250. (Needed to do lots of noise reduction in editing.)

C&C welcomed!

Terrific fly photo, Carolyn. The fly has lots of color and detail, and I like the colors overall. The flower bud center is a little bright, but it could just be my contrasty Imac monitor. Thanks for posting. Only 119,995 fly images left!

The colors, background, subject and composition are stunning. Excellent. However, it does look like it's been sharpened quite heavily, in particluar on the fly body and head. If this is the case, maybe turning down the sharpening a bit is worth a try.

I love these little flies although I have never been able to get such a good shot of one! Did not realize how colorful they are!
Nice image!

These are the coolest of flies, not like all those hairy ones we've been seeing lately  those are great colors in the body and wings and I really like the perch, very different and complimentary.

Beautiful shot--love the comp, colors, and nice soft unobtrusive BG!

You captured all the iridescent splendor of this little guy. The detail is wonderful. Pretty amazing.
