Belchenflue

This one is from a very cold October morning last year. The weather forecast was perfect to go to “Belchenflue”/Switzerland for some sunrise shooting. And indeed it was a perfect morning with some interesting light situation. I made a lot of pictures this morning with some different light situation. The light and mood was changing so fast…..I had a hard time to select the “best” one from that morning……..finally I decided for this one here.

Hi Bill,

The image has great depth and the light is beautiful. The colors in the foreground look a little neon on my monitor and I could see reducing the saturation selectively a bit, but that's just my two cents. In any case, it's a lovely image.

Congrats,

Michael

Great atmosphere and line as well as lots of good detail. I'm a little on the fence regarding the bush on the left but I image that the comp wouldn't have worked otherwise. :toast:

Interesting comp R Bill. The atmosphere is really good and probably hard to translate here. I too am unsure of the bush on the left only because it pulls my eye away from the sun, which I think is the main focal point. Thats picky but I do love the feel of this.
Thanks for sharing

Excellent the way the spine flows into the scene! I'm impressed you tamed the dynamic range with a single exposure; it looks extreme here. I too would tone down the foreground blues and greens just a bit.

Hi Bill, I really love the feel and mood you captured here. I'm also ok with the bush. I do agree about the fg blue / green being toned down a bit. I love the light and fog! Very nice!

Wonderful sense of mystery. I also am not sure about the bush on the left, but love the fog and sun.

The soft diffused lighting created by the fog is amazing, Bill. I also like the diagonal placement of the rock formation. I could also see this with the upper blue portion of the sky cropped out leaving about half of the rising sun. :toast:

A very nice balance to your comp, Bill. Love the intense yellows, but I find the blue/green a bit funky... what is that coloring? Fabulous misty atmosphere!

Very nice, Bill. I love the light, although I feel the sun (and curiously enough its shape) is drawing the attention too much for me. Maybe Ed's suggestion would work.

Thanks for all your feedbacks and suggestions. I will reduce the saturation selectively in the foreground. I also haver another comp with a smaller sun and more fog.....I wasn't sure which one works better. I will show the other pic later.Again thanks a lot for your feedbacks. I really appreciate it.

Man, that is some INCREDIBLE light! I only wish that bush on the left wasn't there. I think the image would be a 10/10 without it. You up for the cloning challenge?

I actually think it would be worth a try, given the strength of the rest of the image with that unbelievably sublime light.
