Stormy Blues

by David Edwards

An image from July last year (our winter). Constant drizzle made for a gloomy dawn, but there was some nice storm light as the sun came up.

Burleigh Heads, Gold Coast, Queensland.

D80, Sigma 10-20 lens @14mm, f/11, Singh Ray Color Combo Polarizer. 2 image blend for DR.

Many thanks for your c&c.

Excellent David! I'm really liking this one. Excellent composition and you have everything working well together. I like the texture, detail and dominance of the big boulders up front and then how they diminish in to the surf and lead the eye up to the big sea rock and wonderful sky. Oh, and then to discover the color on the horizon. Well done!

LIke a puzzle that falls into place, the elements add up nicely! The dark boulders contrast well with the surf, and the splash of colors in the distance is really catching as your eye wanders through.

I like this very much, David. The diagonal lines of the foreground rocks and the water work very well together, and I also like the light and the appearance of the water. Awesome sky too! Wonderful stuff.

Comp is spot on David, great detail in the wet foreground rocks and the stormy sky looks great. The little hint of pink on the horizon finishes it off beautifully.

Cheers, Gary.

Very cool shot, I like how you are lead into the image right up to those wonderful colorful storm clouds, excellent shot, the larger image was a pleasure to view.

The mix of shapes from the rocks to the textured sky is very appealing. My eye travels along the rocky coast to those jutting sea stacks, which point to that fantastic sky. You've retained some nice colors at the horizon, but I can see that same glow very subtly in the clouds. Fine blend as well. WOuldn't change anythng.

Beautiful color David especially the line of pink over the turquoise water. I also like the diagonal alignment of the boulders.
