Alluring chives + repost

Nikon D300, 50mm, F/1.8, 1/640, ISO 200.

These chives were taken in my garden. A delightful bloom, with the stems giving great flavor in soup and salads. I took a few shots and find the DOF choice on this one the best. Let me know what you think of my DOF choice. Comments appreciated.

Albert

I do like your choice of DOF here. It gives just enough sharpness in the fg bloom and lovely softness to the rest.

I like the soft feel to this photo accentuated by the delicate purplish pinks. The background is very painterly and looks as if an artist has put in some brush strokes there.

I wish the cut off bloom at the bottom edge was not in the frame but it does not prevent me from enjoying this lovely creation by you.

Good Work, Albert

I think your DOF choice works perfectly. I like the receding detail and angled comp. Very nice. My only minor nit was the one previously noted by Ram (the cut off bloom in the LLC).

Albert: Delightful scene. I especially like your DOF/POF choice and the color palette. Two things would make this better for me; first is the cut off bloom on the bottom edge and the other would be to crop away the empty BG on the right so the frame is filled with the blooms. Here's a quick and dirty suggestion. >=))>

Looks yummy! (pun intended). I like the focus on the one sharp bloom and how the oof blooms create a gentle "glow", but do wish that the nearly sharp top poking into the frame bottom wasn't there. I really like the comp in the repost, but prefer the more gentle saturation of the original post.

So much softness and a very dreamy look. But agree with Ram's point. Still a beautiful image. :toast:

Hi Bill :wavey: I appreciate your helpful comments.. and the fine repost, The crop works well, the saturation is

subjective, us Canadians are more laid back than you Texans
Hi Mark .....Thanks for pointing out the transgression.
Hi Ram :wavey: Yes!! the cut off bloom does intrude  i guess old age is catching up with me   thanks for pointing it out  The bloom, that is

Sweet focus and softness! The cut off, in focus head could easily be cropped out, although it is a minor distraction.

The DOF for this image works very well for my tastes. With the OOF blooms in the BG it gives a very good depth to the image. My only quibble is the partial in focus bloom along the bottom edge. For my tastes I would prefer to have it cloned out as it is distracting to my eye.

Ditto to removing the partial in-focus bloom at the bottom, but very beautiful colors, light and feel to the whole image.

The main flower is just superbly captured, Albert ! I do slightly prefer the repost Bill has done regarding the comp but love the tonality of the original.
