Federation Forest Pano

I did a 180 degree pano. This is just the first half. The details are incredible. I really get a kick out walking into these forest scenes with all this stuff surrounding me. This rendition is pretty stepped down and lacks the composition, scope, & detail to appreciate. But, it was about the best of the batch...so be it.

Much of this strip of state (WA...near Mt Rainier just below snow line) forestland between Hwy 410 and the river is old growth and relatively level and bog-free so that you could tramp around off-trail. Three of us photo-bugs were out here and had perfect over-cast conditions yesterday. Not too many folks ...quiet day...plenty of elk sign...none seen.

Zeiss 35mm at F20 and 25 second shutter. Tripod/cable and processed in with CS5 in auto-photomerge.

Federation Forest right Ken? Love that place. Beautiful and accessible old growth. Wonderful rainforest pano! I'm going to try and get out there this week! Maybe check out the Hobbit House...

I love the vivid greens in this image. The composition is wonderful. I find it difficult to compose panos and I think you've done a terrific job with this one. Overall, the image makes me feel like I'm standing in the middle of the forest.

Lovely image Ken, I know how hard it is to nail a composition amongst all the forest floor confusion. You've done it really well here. :toast:

Nice GREEN forest scene. I am liking your repost of the 180 degree pano even more. The big tree on the right really anchors the whole image nicely.

Very lush and enjoyable scene that really captures the beauty of the forest. The main post really helps me appreciate the pano.

This is really nice Ken. As others have mentioned, finding a good composition in the chaos of a forest is not an easy matter, but you succeeded nicely here. Love the lushness of the scene.

Bright greens work really well against the reddish trunks. The detail is very nice.

Ken, while I do like the first image you posted...the second one is even better! This deserves to be printed large & hung on the wall! :toast:

I agree. Great photo, and the full pano is even better. I'd love to see that printed large.

Wonderful to see so much green, something I do not see much in the desert. I really like the pano presentation as you get to see so much more of these lush forests, well seen and well done.
