This GBH was calling as its mate was gone to get more sticks for the nest they were building. Very, very unfortunately, the images of the actual calling were not framed correctly and the room for the feet wasn't there. :( :(

I like the behavior and what I think is a "different" image of a GBH, and I like the colors.

Comments and suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you!

You're correct- it is different. The head position has certainly helped the composition and cropping too I reckon.

Hi, John. Thank you! No cropping on this one, though. It's full frame.

Very unique image of the GBH, the colors are nice, the whites are exposed well and it is a nice composition. I think I'd have liked a bit more room on the right and I may have taken a bit off on the bottom since that is visually not as appealing and the feet aren't visible.

Nice. I like the pose, background and perch/nest. Good aperture choice to get sharpness on the foreground leaves. I'm glad you left room at the bottom for the virtual legs and feet.

The lovely blue sky background and the fact he is perching atop a palm tree add great interest to this composition in addition to his skygazing pose as he postures for a mate .Glad you left room for his hidden feet.a very pleasing composition and well detailed . :toast:

Really nice Barbara. Love the position of this bird. Nice comp with enough room for the feet and above the beak. I too like your choice of aperture to get nice DOF. Very well done.

Excellent detail and I particularly like the composition - the palm fronds and the bird's stance complement each other.

Very nice, good to see a different and unique pose of this much photographed bird. I really like the overall composition and do not mind the feet not showing, good color scheme on the heron and the blue sky background compliments the image very well, nice job in getting this full frame shot, well done, well seen. :toast:

The pose is interesting and makes the image. I like the lines of the neck and feathers. Colors are pleasing and natural. THe only thing I'd change if I could would be a bit more room on the right.
