Seagull Flight W/REPOST

Went out the other day and not near as good a day as last weeks great day. I decided to shoot what was made available to me and that happened to be the gulls before I found the horned grebes again. I thought it would be good to go for some flight shots. I really like the sof light and colors of this. I like the wing position and head angle but not sure about the one foot thing. I guess he had 2 feet ... not sure.

Cheryl, not sure if this bird has two legs and feet. Looks like one might be gone. Anyway, I like the feel this image evokes. The BG sky really adds IMO. Bird is nice and sharp.

Cheryl, I like this a lot--great pose, great sky, perfect comp. gulls are underrated and overlooked (not just as subjects, but on NPN in terms of comments too unfortunately), and this is a great example of why they are worthy of attention.

Hey Cheryl,
The pose and light are excellent.....like you torn on the one foot.....but I have seen them missing one......so nicely done overall.

Nice flight pose and sharpness. The sky and cloudy BG adds alot to the shot. The missing leg makes the shot more interesting IMO.

This is technically right on the money Cheryl, there's no room for improvement at this point
I especially like your POV and this BG..One of the best darn gull shots I've seen in awhile..
And the one foot thing? Yep, it's only got one. But they manage pretty well regardless. Probably snagged it on a net, or someone's fishing line I suppose.
Nicely done & have a great weekend my friend :wavey:

Nice exposure and detail. I agree with Brian about gulls and NPN. And I regret how much I took all the gulls for granted when I lived on the mid Atlantic coast now that I'm in central AZ.

I like your exposure, sharpness and background. Comp works well also. I'm not bothered one whit by the single leg. The only thing I'd prefer is some light in the eye.

A wonderful photo, with the techs perfect, and excellent background and perfect timing. My only quibble is with your term "Seagull." There aren't such critters, of course. It's a gull, and to my west coast eye a Second Year Ring-billed Gull, although I could be persuaded otherwise.

I love gulls, their adaptability and the photographic and ID challenges they present. They do get neglected on NPN. Thanks for posting such a brilliant example.

The repost with the enhanced catchlight is great. Great exposure on this. I really, really like the wing position. It's fairly easy to get a flight shot of a gull, but not to get one with a great wing position and overall position like this one.
