Northern Mockingbird

This is my best image of a Northern Mockingbird I captured in 2011. This bird hangs out at the entrance of the San Joaquin Wildlife Sanctuary a lot. I hope to someday get him on a better perch. I cropped this to about 35% of the original image to get rid of a lot of dead twigs. I tried a different method of sharpening.

Harry, I really like the light in this image. I also like the bird's pose and the perch. In the larger image the large crop has magnified the noise in the BG and parts of the bird. Not sure there is much you can do about it except back off on the crop some. Was this underexposed in-camera? That could have made the noise worse too. Overall a neat shot.

Great pose and eye - and perfect comp with that long tail.
Yes, a little noisy - but a fine image.
But this is a northern shrike - oh, no, wait - that was the other shot... LOL!!!!

I love the pose of the bird and the softness yet sharpness/detail of this image, and the nice, soft colors and light.

I like the pose and look with the eye contact plus the perch is fine to me, the only issue I see is due to the large crop there is a lot of noise in the shadow areas of the larger image. I very seldom post anything that is below 50% of original image as the IQ really starts to suffer but sometimes depending on the light and subject you can post smaller. Nice job in getting this.

Nice pose and light on this mockingbird. I also like the perch and the clean BG. It does have a little noise problem but it's still a very nice image.
