Cheyenne Bottoms glow

Tonight's sunset was a bust, but 10 minutes later, the skies started glowing. The edges of the pool still held some ice, and the wind died down at dark. 7D, ISO 200, f/11, 1/10, small crop. C&C always welcome and appreciated.

That is one wild sunset! I like the dark feel, might tone it down just the slightest bit, but the saturation for me contrasts nicely with the dark areas.

Rob,

Intense sunset and colors. What I also really like about this one is the break in the foreground, giving this a little bit different look than your classic sunset composition. I like the hint of blue in the bottom pool. Even though this looks to be a straight format, this has a panoramic feel to it - and I'm not necessarily suggestion a crop here.

Hey Rob, It never ceases to amaze me when you continue to get these beautiful shots of an area most folks would drive on by without a casual glance. The pool edge provides a nice break point for the transition from water to land.

Now that's a vivid Kansas sunset for you. I like how the ice in the fg provides some interesting detail and I also like the hint of blue sky.

Must have been one of those moments when you have to hold your breath because the sky is so intense it hurts to breathe. I love this shot. The tiny bits of blue are perfect accents.

Thanks everybody for the comments. Merle and Wayne, what we lack in terrain here in central Kansas, we make up for in stunning skies :). Lon, I get the same feeling you describe when you look at it, like it is a pano but it isn't. Peter and Nancy, the intensity truly surprised me, especially giving the lackluster sunset and what appeared to be dense clouds to this side of where the sun set.
