Barred owl

Here is the next installment of my barred owl series. Given I have posted two fly-by type shots already I decided to go with a landing shot this time. I like the position of the bird with wings out and tail spread. I also really like the BG showing just enough detail in the cypress trees.

As always thanks for looking and please view the larger version for max detail.

An incredible image showing the size and beauty of these owls that are (fortunately for us photogs) diurnal. The outstretched wings and tail - the cypress in the background and the detail is just awesome - I've seen action similar to this but with no camera in hand and even if I did I'm not so sure the result would hold a candle to this. Technically perfect in every way - the high ISO paid off with little to no negative impacts

Another excellent barred owl in flight shot. I also like the spread wing landing pose and the nice BG. I would love to have a series of owls in flight shots like you have been posting recently.

Wow, beautiful - incredible view of those expansive wings, the eyes, and talons.
Exceptional shot - but maybe a slight blur added to the BG would improve this even further?
Excellent as is.

Excellent shot Ron, it is really cool to see the owl's wing and tail feathers spread out like that, something you do not see very often, nice job in getting this shot, the larger image was a pleasure to view, way to go.

You've certainly got the Barred Owls covered well, Ron. I love this shot with the perfect view, and the bg goes very well, too.
