Barred owl

Yesturday morning was one of those special experiences you so rarely experience in your life. A morning when everything comes together just right. The barred owl pair was very active and gave me more opportunites than I could ever ask for in very good light for the most part. I got flight shots, perched shots, and even mating shots. A super special day. One series of shots, one of which I will post at a later date, I will never forget. I will provide details about the encounter when I post that particular shot. Anyway, nature and birds in particular never cease to amaze me. What a day!

I hope you don't mind a series of barred owl shots over the next week or so.

Here is one shot I really like from my adventure with the owls. I hope you do too.

These are wild owls on a lake near my home. Please view the larger verison for max details. Thanks so much.

You're killing me with this series! This is just as nice as the previous image but with a different feel from the different background and position.

Beautiful pose and light, Ron. I like how the trees nearly end just ahead of the owl, which opens up the image IMO.

Another great shot of this owl. I like how he has his claws squeezed shut and tucked up. Looking forward to more images and the story behind them. It is nice when the stars all align for you!

Ron, I can't add to what has been already said except that I would hang this on my wall.

Fantastic Ron! Great detail and wing position, and I also really like the distant vegetation which gives a nice varied background for the owl to really pop against. Excellent work!

Ron, this is a great flight shot for this species! You captured wonderful detail in the feathers around the head & a nice catchlight to top it off! I like the DOF you chose here as well.

Way to cool Ron, excellent flight shot. I like just about everything on this one, wing position, feather detail, catch light and background. Sounds like a great morning and encounter, the larger image was a pleasure to view.

Ron, I had that day last week, shot after shot my kind of day except that you didn't fall in the water LOL. Another exciting shot with a really cool bg. Maybe I should do a shoot with you now for these guys?
