Barred owl
by Ron Bielefeld
Been having a bit of fun with some barred owls on a nearby lake. Many of the lakes in this area have flood timber around them and support very large numbers of barred owls. This was taken in the very early morning as the bird flew from one tree to another.
Please view the larger verison for maximum details. Thanks.

Superb detail as usual in your images. Just a personal preference but I might tone the green background down just a little bit. It might be my monitor though. The larger file is a must see!! Congrats on another fine image Ron.
Very impressive example that you don't need to bait a bird for an incredible image.
This image has captured the detailed fine feathers of this guys head & face beautifully! Also the wing positions complement the total image, with the front on near wing position to the extended far wing position . Only item I would alter if it were my image is the brightly angled whitish tree branch under the far extended wing. I think by bringing this branch into blending better with tone of the surrounding background would emphasize your image even more. What do you think?
As it is presented , I feel a very powerful owl image. Those facial feathers are very difficult to get in detail & your position & lighting have enhanced them nicely.!!!
Thanks for sharing this fine image
