I know this is a little bit tight but I have no more room on the top. I hate that I clipped the one wing but I still like this image. I cropped from both sides to make this a portrait rather than a landscape which is the orientation it was shot in. Slight crop from the bottom as well. I don't remember what the strange looking OOF stuff on the bottom is and I know it's a little bit distracting.
The trout must have been gathering in this cove because several osprey dove in this area the morning I was there. Image was taken in Southern California 1 week ago.
Please have a look and let me know if I can improve it in any way. Thanks for all of your instruction and help over the past two years. I've learned so much from so many of you over those two years and I feel like this site is like family. May the new year bring you stunning light and great photo opportunities. :toast:

Great image David. The clipping of the two feather tips is no big deal for me when I see the action you have captured. Usual great sharpness and exposure. You always seem to find the great places. I think I will place a tracker on your truck. Hope to shoot with you again soon.

Exceptional action shot - love the wing positiion, splashing water, BG, and perspective. Perfect exposure.
Clipped wing is inconsequential here.
Wishing you and your wife and family a terrific year..

The OOF at the bottom is no distraction to me. As noted, you did clip the wing a bit, but more room and a complete tip could be made should you choose to do so. Mainly, I would like to see a bit more room on the right. Beyond all that though is the stellar quality of this image, with the aforementioned nits very minor. Really excellent timing and SS really paid off! :toast:

with all my attention on the Osprey action -- I did not notice the clipped wing until I reae the description -- meaning the clipped wing was not an issue with me. Terrific action shot.

Wow! great action and the detail is incredible. Didn't notice the clipped wing until I read about it. Doesn't bother me at all. I'd consider taking a little off the bottom, it isn't distracting but I think it would better show the great detail of the Osprey and the trout.

Happy New Year!

Regardless of the busy background I would be so happy to have captured this moment with so much great detail of both the birds plumage the tail disturbing the water and the curled up fish in his talons .Looks as if you had lovely light as well.Like the low down angle that you were shooting at too.No nits for me on this image David. :toast:

I really nice shot David. Love the light and sharpness on the bird. I too would remove some of the bottom and add a bit to the right if this were mine. The clipped wing is unfortunate, but not a bit deal to me. Well done.

Very nice capture of the action. The light and exp look good and I like the reedy BG. The clipped wing doesn't bother me much at all considering how excellent this shot is. Happy New Year!

To be honest I didn't even notice the tiny bit of a clip up at the top. This is wonderful. The detail is terrific, light is very nice, and it's such a nice low angle. Well done!

Neat action and it's sharp. Nice exposure and great wing position. The fish is excellent. Lots of positive things going for this image. IMO the clipped wing is unfortunate but this is still a very dramatic image.

Wow, that is a great capture! Like many of the others, I didn't notice the clipped off wings because of the action drawing you into the center of the photo. I did, however, notice the blurred area at the bottom of the picture which I do find a little distracting. But still an amazing shot of one of my favorite birds!

Great action and excellent light. The clipped wing is a very minor issue here IMO, you captured the decisive moment perfectly!
