Shot from Beacon Heights off the Blue Ridge Parkway, NC. This is a pre-sunrise shot which I left pretty dark to emphasize the reflective foreground water. Your thoughts and comments appreciated.

Nice!
Everyone's gonna have their own opinion on this, but might as well tell ya mine
I understand your thoughts about the fg water, but from my perspective as a viewer, it is a non player here--i read this shot as 'three elements: earth, sea (o' clouds) and sky. As such, I think it's stronger in thirds (bye bye water). And w/o the water, no need to darken, so id boost the brightness slightly. Just my take. It's cool regardless of how you slice it.

The distant hills look very mystical with the fog and early light on them. And the position of the horizon is very eye catching. Would not change a thing!

Very nice shot but I agree with Stan. Cropping from the bottom would really put this one over the top. Beautiful layers.

Very pretty IMO. The blue/gray Bg really draws my eye in, almost leaving the FG as an afterthought.

hi dale. i agree with stan that the water is a small player in this photo. the foreground rock is heavy in the frame, and i think warrants a bit more attention to accentuate its textures. i would also look at adding some warmth there.
the background is absolutely mystical. i love the placement of the trees from under the rock, and the vista to the mountains is, literally, heavenly.

I like the echoing of the repeating ridges in the foreground rock and the mountains. Could see cropping the top of the sky to keep the orange as a contrasting color.
