Wilderness Coast (SEP2)

Here is a rework of a seascape from the west coast of New Zealand this time using Silver Efex Pro 2, a piece of software I have recently started using and reviewed on the blog article below.

’A first look at Silver Efex Pro 2’

The version processed in PS CS 5 is still in my NPN gallery here for comparison.

The lines are obviously much more pronounced with the contrast increase on this image. i think it makes it much stronger and more brooding. Looks like SEP2 did a good job.

Kah Kit,

Outstanding seascape. Excellent near/far composition and the lines of the receding surf tie it all together beautifully. The processing is top notch. No nits or suggestions.

Very dynamic and brooding. Great lines leading through the scene and love the B&W treatment here.

This is dripping with drama Kah Kit! I love the lines with the water and that sky is flat out fantastic. Great job on the B&W BTW.

What a wonderful photograph. I love the motion of the water,

I've been wondering whether I should invest in Silver Efex. I'll read your blog post. Thanks for the link.

Even better than the first version for me, and that one was really nice. I just love the motion of the water here. Excellent comp!

Like them both. I have tried SEP2 and find there are 3 or 4 of their filters that really do a good job. The others do not wow me as much.

Kah, I think both images are nice, the composition is very engaging. I like this version for the enhanced contrasts but I like the PS CS5 version because it looks cleaner, less grainy than this version. This graininess appears to be more apparent in the FG and left hand side of the image compared to your other version. Perhaps you could blend the two to remove some of this..either way it's a great photograph that I would love to have in my portfolio :toast:

Fantastic!!!! One of the best black and whites I've seen in a long time. There is so much to look at here. The entire image is full of beautiful textured light. Excellent work as usual. :toast: :toast:
