Just For Fun

I have made the jump to Photoshop CS5 and I was setting things up and needed a file to work on just as a test. The jump was not really needed except that I upgraded my system for extra memory (8GB now) to handle my large 4x5 scans and discovered CS3 can't access the higher memory, ergo CS5. I have a slew of new 4x5 images that I am about to start on and wanted to make sure CS5 was up and running properly to my liking.

I made this image last week during the evening of the total lunar eclipse. The eclipse fizzled out just as it was peaking due to some air atomspherics. So I waited around for sunrise and this is what I was rewarded with.

As far as PS CS5, it is already becoming a love-hate relationship. So many changes some good, mostly not good. I miss the interface I have grown to love. We'll see how long it will take to get used to this new stuff.

Enjoy.

Youssef,

You seem to have this knack for capturing these moments. If not the crescent moon, then some accent of a cloud captured at the peak of action. I think I'd trade a lunar eclipse for a moment like this. Beautiful.

Nice job on hanging in there for the sunset. Of course the composition is wonderful.

Intense light and very nicely composed. Give yourself a couple of months with CS5. It'll feel natural by then. I actually like it quite a bit.

Intense is the word--i feel like i'm in the furnace! To be honest, its almost too intense for me--it kind of feels like you pushed the sat to the limits of 'acceptability' and in the process you've lost some of the nice cloud textures--not that they're not there (if they weren't, i would have said 'beyond the limits' ) but i feel like they'e overpowered by the color hitting me over the head. Just personal preference, really--cause most folks seem to like super-saturation. I think you can save some of the minor clipping here and still keep the intensity feel of the sunset, i'm not asking for much--really i'm not

Intense, saturated sky is a real eye-catcher. There seems to be a bit of a outline along the hilltops that I don't care for but the contrast is extreme and my monitor iffy. Great capture of a spectacular moment.

Spectacular color! The line of mountains along the bottom is just what is needed to anchor the image. Beautiful shot.
