Chukar

The perch is Tintic Quartzite which is common on Antelope Island so I had to reduce some of the brights there.

7D, 1/500, ISO 500, 500 f/4, 1.4 tc, shot from pickup window on 3/9/11, exposure adjustment in ACR, cropped to 77% of original image, reduced brights in perch, sharpened bird and part of perch, no additional processing or adjustments, natural light, not baited, set up or called in

Always love you chukar shots Ron. This one is no exception. The head turn and muted light really makes this have nice depth. Very nice DOF and the perch with the few pieces of grass really has character. Great BG tops it off. Cool shot.

Gorgeous!
Wonderful pose, your usual fine detail, great perch and BG. The strands of grasses and muted light put this over the top for me.

Extra nice image quality Ron. The pose and low point of view are excellent as well. I like the slightly flat lighting which is complementary to the subjects coloration and smooth plumage. Interesting perch material too! :toast:

Beautiful composition, Ron and I like the textures in the Quartz and the way the colors work with those of the Chukar.

Wow. That is an awesome looking bird! I like the simple background & the couple wisps of grass, it really supports the beauty of the bird. Looks even better in the larger size.

Wonderful shot and composition Ron. I really like the IQ of your images but it makes it hard to find any nits. The colors and feather patterns make Chukars a really interesting bird to photograph. The larger image looks great and that smooth background really adds to the image, well done.

Love it Ron. Great pose, perch and detail. I like that you left the left side weeds but think I would rmove the right side one for a different version.
