Inca Jay

My apologies for my fairly long absence from NPN. We have been in Ecuador for a month now shooting and leading trips with little time and intermittent internet access. I haven´t processed anything from this trip but here´s an Inca Jay from a previous trip to San Isidro lodge in Ecuador. This was shot as a horizontal and cropped to a vertical as there was a lot of empty space on the left. This shot has less depth of field than most of my images but I think it works fairly well with this pose and there wasn´t much light available to stop down more. I don´t have a larger version with me.

I hope everyone has been enjoying the holiday season and finding plenty of birds to photograph.

Very nice work with the available light, nice & sharp where it must be.
This bird has some "wow" colors Nate..would love to see one on the same branch with one of my blues.
Of course that's not happening anytime soon
Well done & Merry Christmas :wavey:

Glad to see your post Nate. I hope everything is going wonderful for you down there. The sharpness of the head and oh the colors. I like the green moss on the perch also with I feel compliments the back of the bird.

Nice sharpness on the face and eye and I like the diagonal perch. The colors of this species are wonderful.

A very interesting and colorful bird but one that looks to very difficult to photograph due to the contrasting colors. Nice job in getting this in the low light conditions. Happy Holidays.
