Olympus E-3, 300mm, handheld in Zodiac
f5.6, 1/320, ISO400

Southern Fur Seal Pup, Elsehul, South Georgia Island. We were told the pup was about 3 days old, and that mom had left him for the first time to go out and feed. The photo can't capture the desperate, pitiful whining the little guy was making.

80% of full frame. Selective sharpening to pup.

C & C, please. Thanks for looking.

Jim, this is a beautiful image of the seal pup against very interesting and colorful rocks. Your composition and DOF is absolutely perfect. We maybe can't hear the whining, but the expression you have captured on his face surely appears desperate.

Delightful image of this little one. Wonderful pose and environment - and the detail evident in the larger version is superb.

What a beautiful shot, Jim! Wow! The soft light is really nice on his smooth coat, and his expression is wonderful. Poor scared, little guy!
