Messy Paint +RP

The last several weeks have been filled with everything but making pictures and the need for fresh air was just about overwhelming. Today presented a rare, brief opportunity to see new nearby scenery. Of course the timing in such circumstances inevitably presents challenges with light, but here is a stolen moment. I hate busy, messy images, and this one clearly violates the principle. Maybe it has a few redeeming qualities, like color and texture. Or, could just be evidence of a desperate need for the outdoors. This is the Paint Mines near Calhan, Colorado. The temperature was near freezing with a blustery wind. Couldn't feel my fingers by the time I got back to the truck, but it was great to be out and about.

Hi Russ-- i love the Mines, hope to make it up there this Winter, hopefully after a good blizzard! I think the appeal of this shot is in the abstract nature of the colors/patterns, so IMO there is a real easy way to make this shine--just crop off the bottom and top so there is no grass showing--just the rocks. :wavey:

Here's a repost based on Stan's recommendation. I like this better, as it distills it down to the best elements.
