Ankenballen & Repost

This rock is called “Ankenballen” and is located near “Chilchzimmersattel” in the north-western part of Switzerland in the Jura mountains. Since this is located close to our home (just about a 30 minutes drive and then a 15 minute hike) I made several trips to this location the last few weeks. This one I took one morning in October. I’d wish the fog were not so low. Though I’m happy with the comp and the mood, technically wise I’m not really happy about it……I just noticed that this lens (Nikkor AFS 70-200/f2.8G IF VR ED) is a bit soft in the corners at 200mm. It’s not really noticeable in this size but at full size it’s quiet noticeable. I am thinking about cropping a bit.
Another one from that place, actually almost the same comp is posted in the Man & Nature Forum since there's a farm in the image. In this one the farm is hidden under the fog.

Techs: Nikon D700, Nikkor AFS 70-200/f2.8G IF VR ED (@200mm), ISO 200, 8 sec, f11, polarizer

Thanks for any comments and thoughts

Hi Bill. This is a lovely image. I think I like this comp better than the one in the M&N gallery. I like the way the little peak on the left is showing and the depth of this one. The only thing I would suggest is poaaibly a littl more contrast in the trees to bring them up a little. Beautiful shot.

Wonderful depth to this, and the overcast and fog create a dreamy atmosphere. I would suggest reducing the blues, at least in the foreground, as that will bring out the fall color a lot more.

Real nice Bill! Like Floris, I am really liking the feeling of depth in the image and the great mood created by the fog. I would agree with Floris' suggestion on the blues in the trees, too. Nice stuff.

Wow, this is outstanding, Bill. I like the depth and layers, the fog, the fall color, and even the sky has just enough detail. Very nice. :toast:

Thanks so much for your feedback. I reprocessed and tried Floris's and Harley's suggestion reducing the blues in the trees.

Bill, the repost really pops. Love the layers, and the comp. Must be nice to live so close to scenes like this. I'd like to see more.

Spectacular view Bill and you've done a great job in capturing it. The sea of fog looks amazing.
