I wasn't happy about the light coming right at me, but Iike the backlit effect on this fox's fur.
Please see LARGER version if you can. Critiques much appreciated.

I like the rim lighting and the whiskers are perfect.

I think you handled the lighting situation very well here Sharon and the rim light effect works nicely. I would suggest to tone down the few bright grasses just below the muzzle.

The eyes and the stare make the image. The light, comp. and dof are also very nice.

Sharon: I guess with wildlife photography beauty is often revealed in the eye of the beholder, so I'll have to cut those who haven't commented some slack...personally, I LOVE this image. The lighting, habitat, pose, timing, eye-contact, techs, and colour palette all add up to a fantastic image I'd love to have in my collection! Great job! I might be tempted to see what an extra layer exposed for a slightly brighter face and chest and masked in might look like, but this is awfully good as presented. Congrats!

Hi Sharon,
I quite like this - the lighting is very nice (and you handled the contrasty situation well) and the overall colour palette works well for me. Centred composition works well with the angle of the subject and the intense stare. The two grasses that form a "V" directly below the muzzle are a very mild distraction for me and in a perfect world it would be nice if they weren't there, but they're definitely not a deal-breaker.
Cheers...thanks for sharing this one...

Excellent! I love back/rim light. Nice and sharp. I might try to slightly tone down the V formed by the grass.

I think you pulled off a good capture in very tricky lighting conditions! Good job.

I think in this case the back-lighting worked in your favor Sharon, excellent job of managing it.
Very nice details, great natural setting, and I love those eyes of course
Well done & have a great weekend!
