Almost Gone

I have photographed and posted photos from this stand of red pine before. Their fate however is sealed and they will soon be harvested. Unfortunately, I have not come across many red pine stands as photogenic as these. The other thing is that this is only a couple of miles from my house and the forest floor is covered with pink lady slippers in the spring. Oh well, maybe my photos will preserve their last majestic seasons and perhaps in 80 years another stand will look the same.

Really nice Tom. These shots are a lot harder than many people think. Very well composed, and I love the texture of the bark. I also really like the wish bone laying against the FG tree.

Beautiful image of that stand of trees. The trunks seem to have a bit of a magenta cast? Real nice tribute to the doomed trees. Sad.

I like the colors of the floor with yellow grasses and needles. Don't know the red pine...but this looks so inviting for a stroll. I esp like the wishbone branch on the foreground. I hope the next generation can allow the forests to grow past a harvest cycle of only 80 years.

Tom,

Now this is a forest scene that I think deserves attention. I really like the effect of being there that this portrays and I like the arrangement of all the trunks. I especially like the hint of blue along the edge of many of the trees. I think this is well seen and photographed.
