I really liked the way this sumac was backlit with the waterfall behind it.

Wonderfully rich colouring, Walt, with this backlighting. I like the blurring of the waterfall at this shutter speed, but possibly would have liked to see it from a slightly different angle, if that were possible - the leaves and the water seem to be competing for attention, if that makes sense. Whatever, I do like the image - the fg rocks ground the composition well.

The colors are very nice from the back lighting and the overall scene is nice, but it is a bit busy and I do agree that the waterfall and sumac compete for my attention.

Walt: Wonderful scene and a superb capture. I like the light and your DOF management especially. I like all the different elements. Well seen! >=))>

Hi Walt This could have been a nice capture: ..... the green Oak leaves behind the sumac spoil the scene. There is too much going here

I like this, it has an almost abstract look to it. My suggestion would be to crop in to the tips of the branches and make it even more of an abstract. The multiple layers (waterfall, green leaves, sumac) are all on the right side and makes this feel a little unbalanced. IMO, those same layers will work magic as an abstract. The colors are wonderful and structure of the branches an interesting pattern. Well seen.
