Cape Lookout & Stars

This is Cape Lookout lighthouse on the outer banks of North Carolina. Taken about two hours after sunset. There was a 1% sliver of a moon setting in the west but no illumination from it. I light-painted the lighthouse for a few seconds of the exposure with my headlamp. One image - no HDR.

Canon 5DII, Nikon 14-24 lens w/adapter, F4, 25 seconds, ISO 1600

I like the rays of light eminating from the lighthouse Wick. Beautiful stary sky and your light painting worked well giving the lighthouse an eerie glow.

Wick, I think you did really well with the exposure & light-painting on this one. Honestly I wouldn't have even thought it was light-painted. I absolutely love night shots & IMHO I think you nailed this one!

The light painting is really subtle here, which is nice. I like the beams of light, and the backwards lean of the lighthouse really creates the feeling of looking up at the lighthouse and admiring the night sky at the same time.
