Ken, nice photo, but IMHO the almost monotone makes it easy to pass by. I am not sure the pano comp is best, I would like to see the lions larger in the image. Still, getting this shot with a long lens from a drifting boat does make for a more difficult shooting situation which you have handled well. Thanks for shairng.

Hi Ken,

Interesting shot. The line of the lions, and that of the grass, support your choice of crop. I'm torn on how the lions blend in with the background - on one hand it shows how effective their coloration is (in terms of camouflage and presumably helping them avoid detection by prey sources) but photographically it prevents them from really standing out. I was also thinking that the image could use more room on the right (to give the lions more room to look into) but then saw the black tail tuft (which I assume influenced your crop choice). I am still thinking that the tail tuft could be cut off with virtually no one noticing and that adding more room on the right might make an overall more appealing image (well, at least for me). But just more or less thinking out loud...

Cheers...thanks for sharing this...

Brad

PS: You probably already know this - but your larger version and standard version are the same size...

John and Brad,

I can see what you mean about them blending into the BG, I can assure this is not so noticable in a large image, which it seems I forgot to post

I never like to cut bits off in particular as I was trying to get everything in but perhaps I could disguise the clip

This was a very nice sighting and I have a few more.
