Well its lichen I think, not rust, but they really are that colour, in fact I backed off the saturation slightly.
Taken around 6.00am, 40 minutes later and about 50 metres from my previous post. I'm wondering if the comp is a little too chaotic?

Strong foreground and shure "rusty" Neale. Maybe a little more light on the small bush. Also like the bird sitting on top of the distant rock. Also, maybe you should lowered the camra a bit to get rid of the distant sea just visible. Although, I like what I see.

Not to chaotic for me. My eye moves easily throught the rocks to the distant out-cropping. The FG looks a bit brighter than the left side or the distant rocks - not sure if by intention or the use of a grad ND here. I might suggest lightening them slightly to blend the FG with the BG. The reds look very unique to this location.

I like this a lot, Neale. The bird in the bg is a nice addition. My only nits would be the slight haloing aroung the rocks in the urc and the somewhat overexposed highlights...neither of which are big issues for me, just opportunities to improve the image slightly.

A complex scene put together very well. I would work on the halo around the horizon area and the transition in the sky where it gets blown out. A smooth transition to the white areas will make it less obvious that the highlights are overexposed. These are however minor points. One of your best.

I really like the comp, not too chaotic at all. As already mentioned, fixing the halo would improve an already fine image.

It's busy but still coherent, Neale. The shapes, color, and light are all working together nicely IMO.

I like chaotic, and you've done an outstanding job of composing this. A little work on the halo, but that should be easy.

Think the comp is there as I liked the thumbnail but opening it up something seems off. Looks a bit too...crunchy? Maybe that's just from the sharpening? Also the sky looks a bit funky/grey especially in the recovered area...like the bird on the top of the rock though...good detail :)

You have many elements here, but not too chaotic.
Very nice

Comp does not seem too busy to me, I like it a lot. Great color on the rocks. Never tried a blend, bu the edges of the distant formation seems a little dark and contrasty to me. Not any sort of deal breaker for me, just something that might be able to be sm oothed out a bit more?

Thanks for all comments especially reassurance about the composition. I've tried reducing the halo in this repost and played with the highlight area a little. Chris, I have blended images quite often, but not here, this is a single exposure, I have had haloing issues before on single exposures, its not a problem exclusive to blending it seems. (not for me anyway).

Very nice, Neale. This is a very interesting view of a great looking place. I think you did really well with the comp you used to show this off. I enjoy the colors too. Nice work.

Very nice image here. I like the lichen and the clump of grass up front. A scene with some nice drama! I love the re-post!

The subtle light on those red lichen covered rocks together with your excellent composition makes this outstanding. Excellent work.

Neal,

The comp is not chaotic at all. I think this is a very strong composition. This is an good example of the Rule of Thirds, and an even better example of the Golden Ratio. The placement of the grass is excellent and this flows around nicely leading the background rocks and complimentary sky. Is that a bird on top of the rock? perfect!

I like this quite a lot. Nice job with the repost.
