New Year

Sorry, I am swamped with other work. But this was taken the past Saturday. This moon marks the beginning of the new Islamic Year 1433. I was the only one out there in the silence as the moon and Venus slowly sank in the western sky. I thought the evening was going to be quite in terms of the light, but about 10 minutes later, the horizon exploded with color. I'll post that photo next.

Feedback appreciated.

Oh this was two vertical digital frames stitched together.

Nice shot Youssef, I really like the position of the moon and venus here. I shot a similar photo a few weeks ago, except it was a nearly full moon and Jupiter instead of Venus. :wavey:

Well captured Youseff, wonderful ethereal quality to it. Reminds me of an album cover I've seen somewhere....if anyone remembers album covers!

The interesting ridge line adds a lot to the moody sky and crescent moon. Happy New Year! :toast:

This is truly beautiful Youssef. Great composition, and I love how the complete moon is visible, and the presence of the clouds is nice too.

Always enjoy the new addition to this series, Youssef. This one is particularly complex in its composition.

Very beautifully done, Youssef. I love the tranquil mood this image imparts on the viewer. The clouds are also a great addition to the scene.

Like the simplicity. Bit too much fringing w/ the sharpening along the trees/sky and might be tempted to draw a bit more color out but the comp works. :)

Nice. Although it's not an actual star........a moon and star marking the beginning of the new Islamic year......appropriate and thoughtfully done. Nice mood that puts me in a state of introspective contemplation. Well done. :toast:

I like this composition, and the dark mysteriuos presentation. The whispy clouds/fog work really nice with this one.

Youssef,

Just beautiful. I've come to look forward to your images of the new/crescent moon. The meaning and importance to you comes through in your images. This one is no exception. I haven't looked, but do you have a special gallery for these? I think this would be a great project, blog topic or something. I'm sure you have a great stash of these moon images - I remember and have enjoyed so many of them.
