This was taken 11/19/11 on the high bluffs off of the Snake River on the Washington side. Shade and clouds. Does this composition work?
Does the exposure look good? How about the pose. Was limited in the poses I could get. Is the color okay?
Processed in raw on elements 8. Then some work done in Nik Viveza 2.
All C&C is really appericated. Corpped to leave some of his natural enviroment in the photo. About 65% of full frame.

Nice look at a handsome fellow in his element. Sweet diffused light as well. Not entirely convinced with the composition. The rocks in the lower half are interesting and the background looks pleasant. That just makes me want to see more ! I would experiment with a looser crop.

A beautiful Ram Ron :toast: The whole scene looks very natural to me, nice processing work. I wish the angle of view was not so steep looking, I wonder about trying a vertical crop with this photo.

Hi Ron,

The exposure looks fine to me, as does the colour. Compositionally...I always find it hard to judge the "optimal" crop without seeing the full frame original, but I'm not 100% sure that the square crop suits the content. If this were mine I'd probably remove some of the foreground and go back towards a 3:2 horizontal aspect ratio. Two reasons for this - to me the image feels "bottom heavy" and I'm not sure showing that much rock at the bottom adds too much. Second - to me the dominant line in this image is the out-of-focus band of grass that stretches across the frame horizontally. I think this line would drive me to go horizontal. But just my 2 cents worth...

Cheers...thanks for sharing this...

I, too, think you would do well with a slightly different crop, removing some of the foreground rock to reduce the sense of heaviness. I think the detail is excellent, as is the exposure. I especially like that the foreground is in reasonable focus, as well as the main subject.
The pose offers a good look at the face, with detail in the eyes!
