Gorge de l'Orbe
by R.Bill Moser
Early one October I went visiting the Gorge de l’Orbe, a canyon in the canton of Vaud near the French/Swiss border. It was a rainy and overcast day so I thought it’s a good day shooting in a gorge. Usually mid October the fall colors were at its peak here in Switzerland but this year all was late….so when visiting this gorge the fall foliage wasn’t really great.
I took 3 single exposure blended manually in Photoshop for DOF.
Techs: Nikon D700, AF-S NIKKOR 16-35mm f/4G ED VR (@29mm), ISO 200, 0.8 sec, f10, polarizer, 3 exposures for DOF

Lovely early autumn stream side scenic. I like how the river pulls the eye deep in to the scene where the eye can explore the fall foliage way in the bg, and then work back forward in the scene with the mosses and tufts of grass. No one else has mentioned it and I guess it may just be perception, but this looks slightly rotated clockwise to me. Perhaps not, but thought I would mention it.
No suggestions really, although I think this might be equally strong without the large moss covered rock and leaf at the bottom. There's enough interest in the other little leaves, grasses and moss just above the bigger rock. Just a thought, and a minor one at that.

this beautiful place is not so far from my fall. I really like the comp and the detail here. My eyes are nicely led through the scene till to the nice autumnal forest. I agree with Lon about a sensation that this seems a bit rotated clockwise. Very fine image.
@Lon & Monica: I agree that it looks slightly rotated clockwise but the camera was leveled. I was thinking about rotating while processing the image but then I kept it that way.
