Marine Drill Sergeant

I recently visited my sister who lives on a lake in Maine. We took a little ride in their fishing boat and came across this guy watching us. I used the Marine drill sergeant title because my brother-in-law who was driving the boat is a former Marine and that was his first comment when he saw the photo.

The picture is a little soft because I was hand holding in a rocking boat, but I thought the shot was worth showing. This is about a 50% crop because I wanted to eliminate a lot of unnecessary foliage on the top and left.

I like the environmental nature of this image. The composition you chose seems to work. Yeah, a little soft, but the bigger issue for me is the over exposed whites in the head of the eagle. With all that darker green, your meter was fooled into an exposure that was a touch bright. Maybe you can recover the whites if you were shooting in Raw.

I really like this Eagle pose, and the included environment. I understand about a rocking boat cause I've been shooting from my new kayak. I'm glad you posted this image even though you've noted in your introduction that it's not as sharp as you generally post. The included tree really adds a lot to the image. :toast:
