Acadia Photo + Moonless

Taken shortly after sunrise as I was leaving the scene. I already regret not having looked in this direction earlier, at prime light; I was busy looking in the other direction where I took the photo from my previous post. But Acadia NP is worth another trip for me, and I'll surely be back there sometime in the future.

Many thanks in advance for looking and for your feedback.

Joe,

Quite a different look and result compared to the earlier version. I really like the wet stones in the foreground catching the morning light. I kinda feel like the inclusion of the moon is kinda forced. What I mean is that there is a lot of empty sky and with the wider angle the moon is so small that it just feels like you just had to include the moon - even though at least for me, the image is centered around the shapes, texture and light on the rocky shoreline, and to some extent the treeline. It's an image about this place, not about the moon. Hope that makes sense. Don't get me wrong, I don't know anyone who doesn't like including or photographing the moon, I just think in this case it makes it to predictable? I guess that's what I'm saying.

Lon,

The image is indeed about the rocky shoreline with its lines and textures and layers of colour, and not about the moon, as you indicated. I remember moving my viewfinder around and this is the frame that I thought best suited my intentions from where I was standing. Given the tricky nature of the terrain around me, as I explained in my previous photo post, I did not have the luxury to move around much or fast enough before the light became even harsher, so I worked with what I had; the moon happened to be there, and I remember seeing it but not minding its presence/absence; I still don't, although I understand your point of view, especially with regards to the moon's size.

Here is a reworked version, with the moon cloned out.

Thank you for your feedback and for taking the time to analyse my photo.

The foreground is what holds my interest the most, Joe. The wetness adds some nice rich color to the rocks.
