A Mule Deer at Rocky Mountain Arsenal National Wildlife Refuge.
It's located 10 mi east of downtown Denver Co. Rocky Mountain Arsenal was a chemical munitions facility during WWII.
The facility mfg mustard gas, white phosphorus and napalm to be used as a deterrant during war time activities. After the war, the facility was used as a commercial mfg of pesticides. In the 1950s it was discovered that neighboring areas had contaminated ground water. A cleanup process was started and eventually in the 1980s the land (14,000 acres) was turned into a National wildlife refuge. Today, there is an abundance of wildlife in the refuge, including Mule and Whitetail deer, buffalo, all manner of rodents and small animals, as well as an abundance of winged creatures. A good example of turning Man's worst into something very nice!!
