Ice Fog Sunrise

Taken close to the Eureka Lodge on the Glen Highway, Alaska. It was -35°F and the ice fog was so thick the sun looked more like a moon.

This looks cold!! I like how the fog adds some depth to the scene: The layering of trees works very well. I like the atmosphere and feeling of this shot a lot.

Brrrrrrrrrrr... I like it a lot. The texture of the snow and the light barely piercing the thick fog convey the sense of extreme cold.

You definitely captured the moment well and the temperature went down a few degrees in my room now.

It appears the sun has been defeated by the bitter cold. The framing of the scene and processing look great.

I like the fog. It adds some depth to this scene. Great winter mood. It must have been cold there...at least it looks very cold. Great image

Beautiful!!! I cannot even fathom being out in -35F, much less photographing in it. Excellent regardless of the temp.

That is impressive to me, Gary, I feel like breathing the icy air. I especially like the interplay of the coldness and the warming strength of the sunlight. A fine balanced composition to me with a lot of delightful details.

Seems weird to say it, but my first reaction was "Wonderfully cold". The snowy trees fading into the fog are great and it does look like the sun is failing in it's attempt to warm the place up.

Fantastic, Gary. Being out in these kind of conditions is tough enough but to make an image that truly conveys the bone-piercing cold of -35F in such a remarkable way is incredible. Excellent work.

this photo for me conveys a feeling of coldness while at the same time you can almost feel those first sunrays on your skin, warming the day up. A beautiful composition the snow hanging on the boughs, well exposed and certainly one I can learn alot from. Simon
