Does anyone know what this is? I got out early enough to catch the dew on it.

Shirley:
Can't help with the id.
The drops looks great and so does the focused bloom. The warm lighting makes the orange even more inviting. I would probably exclude the OOF blooms along the right border.

Shirley, this is orange jewelweed (Impatiens capensis). Nice lighting, color and detail, and the dew drops add a little sparkle. These often have a glare on them; you handled that very well.

Quite attractive Shirley. I see that Philip ID'ed the flower. I like the greens and reds and the way the main subject appears to come out of a mistier, out of focus background, toward the viewer.

Carol

Thanks for the ID. I had to get a side shot because the flower was facing away from a sunlit pond. Luckily, a tree stood beside it, so I just used the shaded trunk to my advantage.

Nice image. Agree with Gary, the right side should be cropped to remove the "orange ball".

I'm another for ditching the orange OOF blob Shirley, but I do like your choices for making the BG flattering,

Nice lighting and focus on the orange flower. Love the raindrops. Agree with others about cropping OOF flower.

"Orange ball." HA! Actually, that's another blossom that I should have darkened out. I didn't want to crop the shot because a reprint might cut into my dew drops.
