Aspens at Carson Pass

I went back to a photo I took last month for my first Landscape Gallery submission. This is in the Carson Pass/Hope Valley area of the Sierra Nevada Mountains. This is a lesser known and photographed area. It appears to be somewhat different geologically as there are not the large areas of exposed and polished granite we often think of for the Sierra. This was a beautiful bluebird day that made for richly saturated skies and aspen leaves. Comments and critiques are welcomed.

Days like this just pull us right outdoors to enjoy it and it's great to see aspen trees at their peak. I like the way the yellows contrast with the greens and blues. Compositionally, I could see trying to make one of the two yellow elements more a focus in the scene. Here they seem in competition and the eye is drawn in two directions.

It's a nice capture but it would be more exciting if there had been some clouds in the sky. All the good stuff is at the bottom and the "mountains" are a bit dull because of the color. The exposure is good and colors are very natural. Nicely job on the exposure.
